Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving at Jenn's was super-fun. She had the tables decorated so cute-ly. Note the Indian headdress in the center of the white table and the canoe on the one below. They were both made by the kiddos and made it extra-special.

We were bummed that not everyone could be at Thanksgiving (but where would we have put them?!?) but we had Grandma, Grandpa, Jenn, Jace and their kiddos and Uncle Brad and Uncle Jeff. Cynj stopped in for a bit and it was great to see her and the kids.

Now on to the good stuff and the whole purpose of Thanksgiving- the food! Jenn and Jace once again set the standard for awesome turkey. They introduced the family to brining a turkey a couple of years ago and they raised the bar on innovation in turkey prep- turkey injector. It. was. awesome. And less work than brining. Here is Jace dissecting the bird:

Aside from the turkey, other standouts from the meal included 3, count 'em THREE, different kinds of stuffing. Because that is what Thanksgiving is about- stuffing. Jenn made her cornbread stuffing and "regular" kind. Dad brought a dried fruit/sausage/mushroom one that was really great. The rest of the food (including great gravy and 2 kinds of mashed spuds) was really yummy and we ate until we were stuffed.

Between eating dinner and dessert, the kids sat down to make a cute Christmas ornament. It was pretty easy and they turned out really cute.
Dessert was awesome- in addition to all the cookies we brought for the cookie exchange, we had pecan caramel cheesecake (me), Pumpkin Fluff pie (Jenn), Super-good blueberry cream cheese pie (Abby!) and turkey cupcakes that Cynj brought. Then we talked while the kids played and talked and laughed!
