One evening, I went to the store (by myself! It's like a vacation!) and came home to this industrious scene. DMP was fixing our bed rails, and had set up each of the kids with scrap wood, tools, and nails. They had SO much fun and it became a favorite activity to do with Dad for days afterwards. The girls optimistically made "sleds". We chuckled about it at the time since we have neither hills nor snow, but they showed us when the great ice storm of 2013 came through!
Yes, that *is* my 9 yr old girl sawing wood with a giant, sharp saw. Barefoot. Dad is big on safety.
Pounding nails required a little too much fine-motor coordination and/or spatial awareness, so Bear mostly just fiddled around with tools and threw rocks.
