Birdy Birthday

We had a fun birthday party for Birdy this weekend at the Lehi Aquatic Center. We got a party package, so they supplied everything but the guests and the cake. It was super-easy and fun to have a big space to run around in!

This year, Birdy insisted on a "Barbie Cake"- and it had to be "Belle Color" (yellow). I'm kind of bored of making this same cake, so I decided to mix it up a bit and make it with a fondant skirt. It was definately easier, but more expensive and no one really ate the fondant. I think next time I'll stick with the buttercream!

For lunch we ate pizza and then it was time to play games (Pin the Tail on the Donkey and Pixie Bingo) and open presents. Birdy got so many great presents from everyone this year- she loved them and has been a pretty good sport about letting EJ look at them, too.

After the party time, Abby braved the 2 story climbing wall. She rocked it! The little kids had so much fun watching her and cheering her on. Then it was off to the main attraction- the swimming pool!

The Aquatic Center was lots of fun with slides, play structure, lazy river and even a giant slide that goes outdoors! DMP was glad to have the "big kids" along to go on the big slide with them, and the little ones had a blast playing on everything else.

Baby Janie love, love LOVED playing in the water. She was jumping, splashing and crawling the whole time. The funniest thing was when she was trying to crawl in the 1ft. deep water- her nose and mouth were under the water and she didn't even care!

After the pool, it was off to Logan to stay the night. We wanted to have some fun and be there for Mallory's blessing the next day. Birdy opened presents from Mom and Dad with only a little "supervision" from EJ.
As you can see, her favorite present was this "Princess Popper" dress from Aunt Cyndi. She insisted on wearing it as soon as we got to the hotel and even wore it out to dinner! We went to the Bluebird and she got to eat all the french fries she wanted. There must have been a prom or other formal dance because we saw some high school girls in fancy dresses. Birdy saw them and said "They have princess dresses, just like me!". At the end of the dinner, all the servers came and sang "Happy Birthday" to her- she was so excited!

Then it was back to the "home-tel" to jump on the bed until it was time to go to sleep. I think it was a good birthday for this big, three year old girl!

Oh good, it fits! I now feel like I have to live up to the Megara doll gift standard :-)

Blue eyes, curly hair, imagination, a little attitude all rolled into our Birdy!
