You've Had a Birthday... Part 2

Welcome to Part 2 of EJ's celebration! It's OK if you missed Part 1, you can go back and read it now. When we last saw our heroine, she had just finished up with her first birthday party and prep work was beginning on the second. That prep included dinner.
The birthday girl requested peperoni pizza, bacon, and applesauce (The green beans were my touch- Veggie Power, you know). Oh, and buttered bread, but she forgot about that and I wasn't going to bring it up. After dinner was eaten, it was on to the presents.
Look how excited she is. She doesn't care what is in the present- just that the days and weeks of endless speculation about what presents she was getting was finally over!
And here it is- Best. Present. EVER. Once she figured out that the sort of person-shaped thing played music AND you could change her outfit she was hooked. DMP loaded it up the night before with some good tunes and she LOVED IT.
Birthday's are hard on small, two-year-old sisters. Especially when they think the present they picked for big sister the day before is really for them. There were lots of tears - she just couldn't understand that it wasn't her birthday.
Then, the cake-and-pinata crew arrived. Aren't they a cute crew? All were eager to beat the stuffin' out of this:
Yes, Pinkie Pie's evil twin. Just look at her, giving you the stink eye (or she's snotty, as Cynj thinks). What a strange tradition. You get an effigy of a favorite and/or cute character, and then you beat it with a stick until it's sweet, sweet guts fall out. I think that is why so many of them look so creepy. You don't mind it so much.
Boy- I tell you. These kids had no problem beating the snot out of evil Pinkie Pie. It was like lord of the flies. Check out EJ in that picture- "GO Birdy- Beat the crap out of her until her guts come out!"
Out they came. Look at them- like happy little squirrels! Side Note: Apparently all pinatas are failures and every parent knows this but me. Even DMP. He didn't tell me this because "You were so excited for it". Kids don't seem to be able to break them open without either a) Daddy beating the heck out of it- we did this or b) strategically weakening it before filling and hanging. We must have missed that day in parent class.
Then it was back in the house for some good, 'ole fashioned stick the horn on the Unicorn and cake and ice cream. It was fun, except for the kids like Birdy who didn't cheat and peek. In all it was about 45 min. and just the perfect amount of activities and cake-eating.

We ended the night with EJ kindly sharing her new music player with Birdy. What a sweet, big sister!
