Day 1 & 2 or Driving and Beach Day- Busted

Day 1 consisted of driving all the long way from Provo to Bek's House through Nevada, which really should be renamed "The Armpit of the United States". The most exciting thing that happened was a toasty, buggy picnic in Winnemucca- the halfway point :)

Day 2 was planned to be a beach day. Before that, Lulu- who is, by the way an excellent Mother's helper- organized the "big kids" into doing art projects. Check out EJ's picture- her best to date of a person! Cubby's is all in yellow because that is, we learned, his very favorite color. I had forgotten what the Bay weather can be like (or I was struck by terminal optimism) so beach day kind of got busted:

Bek valiantly took us to two beaches. The pic above is the first. The second was sunnier, but with gale-force winds :). No worries- she then took us to a playground that had all the trappings of a good beach- a sandbox and a water spout nearby. The kids had a blast:

Then, we went to the awesome local candy store. Provo SOOO needs one of these! We were like, well, kids in a candy store! (you SO knew that was coming!)

Even DMP got a special treat- gormet ROOT beer. After the candy store and naps, it was off to Jefferies in Menlo Park. "There are only two in the WORLD" according to Lauren. We scored sweet seats next to TWO windows in the front and the kids had fun waving and making faces at passing cars. What?!?! They were quiet and happy and that is a big deal with 1 amost-9, two 4's, two 2's (well, Norah turned 3 while we were there) and one 1! Jeffries has AWESOME burgers and I was introduced to that amazing bay-area invention- the garlic fry. Heaven!

Then it was home for playing in the backyard before bed. Check out this little cutie. She was grinning and flirting with my camera. What a sweet happy baby!

Sounds like it was a fun trip, especially if the rest of it is as exciting as the first part of it.

Can't wait to read about the rest of it.

I have to say that those are really cute kids. We loved having you guys here and hope you make the trip sound so fun that everyone wants to come out..

BTW.. the beach was a bust, but it has been clear as a bell this week and in the 80's. Perfect beach weather. BOO.
